How to make a Christmas wreath {Holiday decor}

OK, so is this really a HOW to make a Christmas wreath?
Well yes, if you have a can a spray paint and a few minutes of time, you can make the same.
You may recall back in the Fall where I shared a quick Fall wreath with you.

All I did was spray paint the rustic stick wreath and add some leaf embellishments.

Well, time for a Winter one.
You may noticed I changed my header and added this wreath as well.

I fell in love with this Green ivy leaf Krylon color.

Gave it a quick coat of spray paint, found some pinecones in my yard and lightly sprayed them with some faux snow.
Added a few candy canes, and it was good to go!

This was a dreary day as you can see.  I wish it would just rain on days like this.

Playing around in Picnik today, that places is Trouble too!

You may notice I changed my header again for the season, and also added a plaid back drop.
I know some bloggers do not like changing the header or feel it is unnecessary.
My thoughts are this....
A lot of gals turn to blogs versus magazines anymore.
Mags change their covers monthly, now, grant you, I will not change my header monthly, however, seasonally, I think the change is refreshing for me.
I made my collage in picnik, and it was free, fast and simple.
Here is a quick lesson.
Go to picnik, and hit get started...
You will then be directed to the next page
On the top, second option, it says  collage...
Hit collage...
You then see the basic options for your collage...
pick the one you would like...I always choose the 4 boxes across...so I know it will be wide enough for my blog.
Then upload the photos of your choice,which is at the bottom of that screen
Drag the pics to the box.
You may adjust the boxes as you will also see that option, spacing,proportion,etc...
Once you have all your pictures in place, hit save.
NOW you go to the edit section,
add your text, and I also at that time add a clear border, so I can add my text, giving me enough space.
You really do not want to add text over your header, unless you see it is clearly visible to read.
Hope this helps you!

You also have the option to resize your header, and that all depends on your blog template.
You can play around with that.

HERE is another tip for you on the background.  I googled wallpaper, example, french country, plaid, whatever....then I saved the image to my computer.
In your template designer you have the option to UPLOAD your own background...
So I tried it, and the wallpaper worked!

Holiday decorating in the Kitchen {Christmas}

Good evening!
Boy was it cold here today in the Carolinas! I still have a chill in my bones and I have been back in for hours now.
Well, I am finally through decorating for Christmas in the kitchen.

I show you snippets here and there and then it all comes together in the end for you.

First I made this centerpiece, first inspired by this centerpiece

I had everything on hand so it was easy~

Simple Christmas ornaments under a cloche and a cute little tea towel draped underneath.

Chande dressed up with candy canes and a holiday bell...

I have already shown you this side,

Simple stocking hung, tied with a bow...

Wreath hung in the window to give me some greenery.  It is so bare back there now.

Enjoy your evening.

Holiday table top ideas! {newbie party}

So, I have started to get some inspiration for my
Holiday table top ideas and my upcoming copy cat challenge as well.
Just a reminder Monday December 5th in lieu of the newbie party will be
a HOLIDAY copy cat challenge, and for the rest of the week, Party central around blog land.

I found this inspiration from
Better homes and Gardens of course, that is my big go to magazine to browse and look on line.

Glass jars and ornaments decoration

I really loved this image and thought I can try to do my own replica of this, I of course had everything on hand.

Feather, fresh greens, mason jars, faux snow, ball ornaments.

Now to find a place to put it!

NEWBIE party still going on

Holiday home Christmas vignettes {Newbie party started}

So here we continue with "Holiday home" decorating for Christmas.  What better way, than creating a pretty inexpensive Christmas Kitchen vignette. Not exactly  sure what this board was, however at $1.99 this ugly thing was coming home with me. {Goodwill purchase}

I am sure at one time or another we have all seen these shelves perhaps at our Gramma's house.
Lovely little duck or something on there.
I used my Safari green better homes and gardens paint color, and went to it.

The neat thing about this piece is that it has two holes.  My intent was to use mason jars in them, however the hole was too large.
I found a glass instead and it fit perfectly.

Actually, only one glass fit perfectly, the other hole was not the same exact size and the glass slipped through the hole..
no worries, I caught it!

So my solution for the other side was too put a cute little vintage doily and display some Christmas cheer.

I propped a Christmas joy plate...

And there you have a cute little display shelf, for a buck 99!

Have a great day!

Anyhoot, next Monday, December 5th, in LIEU of the newbie party, I will be kicking off  the Bloggers block party, and  will be hosting my Magazine copy cat challenge Holiday style.

I shared the invite with centsational girl, as she was having an impromptu link up your themed  holiday parties linky and I have had a lot of views on that, so I am hoping for a good turn out.
I thought that was very sweet and thoughtful of her to do and a great way to get word out for us little peeps!
 Thanks Kate!

Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA! {photography}

Bonaventure Cemetery, located in Savannah Georgia was one of the most hauntingly beautiful cemeteries I have ever seen.  This cemetery has got to be a photographers dream.
Although, no photographer myself, I thought I would pretend for just a day.
And what a place to pretend.
Come along with me.....

Quintessentially Southern Gothic, it has captured the imaginations of writers, poets, naturalists, photographers and filmmakers for more than 150 years. Part natural cathedral, part sculptural garden, Bonaventure transcends time.

The approximately 100-acre cemetery is also historically significant as a reflection of changing views on death and dying in the Victorian era. As death became more romanticized and ritualized during this period, cemeteries became lush, beautiful “cities of the dead.”

Another reason behind Bonaventure’s popularity is John Berendt’s book, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, which featured a cover photo of the now-famous "Bird Girl" statue, formerly located in Bonaventure. The statue has since been moved to the Telfair Museum of Art, founded through the bequest of Mary Telfair, also buried at Bonaventure.

Variations of Palm trees and moss filled Oak trees surround the areas and stones.

Spanish moss grows from hanging branches of trees in Historic Savannah Georgia and throughout the southeastern United States. It requires warm temperatures and high humidity to flourish -- and that it does in Savannah!

It's a good idea not to touch the Spanish Moss -- as it contains chiggers and other bugs.

It's a good thing we did not take any moss home with us.

This particular plot and area really caught our eye. It almost looked like a little hut.

It was pretty remarkable.

Another thing that caught my eye was the Perpetual care inscriptions on the stone.  How amazing after 100 years and so on and so on, these plots and stones will always be cared for.

If you ever take a visit to Savannah, GA, I would highly recommend a stop here.
so surreal, so peaceful, so beautiful....
I truly could have spent the entire day here.
My boys on the other hand, said "let's get outta here Mom", what kid wants to be in a cemetery?

Have a great day.
See you tomorrow evening for the newbie party.
